The Tour (Tour Code: RC) Rheims, capital city of the Champagne region and the city of coronations where most of the French Kings were crowned. Although the town suffered much destruction during World Wars I & II the Gothic cathedral and the Saint-Remi Basilica where the coronation ceremonies took place have been preserved. Today, Rheims is a charming provincial town famous for its champagne cellars, production and hillsides dotted with vineyards. Tour duration: 10 hours Tour price: $168 USD (per person) Itinerary The sacred town of Reims is the capital of the Champagne region and known throughout the world for its sparkling wine, champagne. Reims is also the city of coronations where most of the French Kings were crowned. Our morning orientation tour of Reims includes a guided visit of the Gothic cathedral. At the superb Piper-Heidsieck *champagne caves, we embark in small carriages for a magical tour with recorded commentary in 7 languages. A champagne tasting completes the visit. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy the picturesque landscape of vines between Reims and Epernay. At Epernay we visit the prestigious wine cellars of Mo?t & Chandon and we taste their reputed wine. *until November 30, 2007. Then, the visit will be substituted with Mumm cellars and a tasting of the famous Cordon rouge Champagne wine. N.B.: The temperature is rather low in the wine-cellars.
