The Tour (Tour Code: BR1) One of the most well preserved medieval towns in Europe, Bruges is a remarkable living canvas of the old Flemish masters. It is famous for its canals, chocolates and handmade lace. Visitors appreciate the quiet life style far from the stressful modern towns. The centre of Bruges is dominated by pedestrian streets and the best way to explore the town is by foot. The quaint houses and decorated facades have given Bruges the fitting title of "The Venice of the North". Tour duration: 14 hours Tour price: $218 USD (per person) Itinerary We begin by crossing the northern districts of Paris as far as the entrance to the northern motorway. Our route takes us as far as the Belgian border. Before reaching it, we make a stop for refreshments (client's own charge). Our arrival at Bruges is scheduled for noon. We visit the historically rich centre of the town by foot which takes us by Le B?guinage (B?guinage's monastery), the gothic style Townhall, the Place du Bourg with la Basilique du Saint-Sang, la Grand Place, Les Halles (indoor market) dominated by the belfry and the Notre Dame Cathedral. (Duration of the guided visit : 1h30). Free time is allocated for lunch in one of the local restaurants with Belgian specialties such as "moules frites" (mussels and chips) and an extensive selection of beers. A visit to the Flemish art museum or shopping for handmade lace and Belgian chocolates are amongst the most popular ways of spending an afternoon at Bruges. During the summer season, a boat cruise along the famous canals is included in the afternoon program. We leave Bruges at 16h30 and return to Paris around 21h00.
