RUE DE LA PISE 06360 EZE VILLAGE - FRANCE |
|
Description The village of Eza precedes the Romans and was one of their strongholds. It clings to the cliff 1,300 feet above the azure Mediterranean. 400 year-old Ch?teau Eza (reached only by donkey) has kept its ancient charm despite the addition of 21st century comforts and facilities. A night spent in any of the luxurious bedrooms is to come face-to-face with history. The guestrooms are reached by walking under stone passageways, up steps, past cave-like shops and restaurants. This is a proper hideaway and one much celebrated: 'The second most romantic restaurant in the world' says Barbara Brass's Romantic Hideaway Survey. 'Retreat of the year' wrote Andrew Harper. The dining room and the cliff-top terrace offer magnificent views of the sea by day, enchanting sunsets and a galaxy of glittering lights of the Riviera coast by night. Chateau Eza? is an enchanting hotel and restaurant tucked away in one of the most exciting sites on the C?te d'Azur. Pretty as a postcard, the chateau clings to the side of the ancient rock walls of Eze, thousand-year-old medieval village more than 1300 feet above the Mediterranean Sea. It is a castle of stone on a narrow cobblestone street, too small for modern day automobiles. Location: Ch?teau Eza is located in Eze-Village on the Moyenne Corniche (RN.7), 10 minutes west of Monaco and 20 minutes east of Nice International Airport. From motorway A8, turn off at Exit 57 at La Turbie or from Italy, Exit 58 at Roquebrune. Each of ten quest rooms can be reached by walking under stone passageways, past cave-like shops and restaurants, and via ancient stone steps and walkways which lead to the individual doorways of the chambers and suites.
